Project title:
 Design and optimization of selected oleochemical processes

Duration: 36 months

Objectives: Design and optimization of next generation sustainable processes for the production of oleochemicals such as glycerol, fatty acids, derivatives of fatty acids (esters, alcohols, amines, amides etc). Improving accuracy of property models for describing mixtures relevant for oleochemical industries.

Expected results: 

  • Methodologies particularly applicable for design and sustainability in the oleochemical industry.
  • Improved property models for predicting phase equilibrium of mixtures relevant to oleochemicals (lipids, derivatives of fatty acids, etc).
  • For a selected number of key oleochemical processes analyses the existing processes and identification of a number of improvements related to process intensification, yield improvements, improved energy efficiency, waste minimization.
  • Identification of optimal process flowsheets with respect to multi-criteria sustainability and economics analysis.

  • DTU, M15, 3 months, property modeling & sustainability analysis
  • USTRATH, M28, 1 month, measurement techniques for data collection
